Killer Whales can be a misleading name for orcas as although they can be ferocious hunters they are also extremely playful, gentle & intelligent. Many people do not know that they are actually the largest member of the dolphin family and they themselves live in large families known as pods. If you look carefully at this imagine you can see kelp (seaweed) wrapped around the pectoral fins of this young orca. He and his sister were playing with it for hours together at a distance and then he surprised me and popped up not far from the boat.
